ST. FRANCISVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — A New Orleans man faces multiple charges after allegedly pointing a firearm at a car salesman and stealing a vehicle he was taking for a test drive on Dec. 30.
The car salesman informed a state trooper patrolling West Feliciana Parish of the incident. Another trooper saw the vehicle described by the salesman speeding on Hwy 61, according to Louisiana State Police (LSP). The suspect continued driving into East Baton Rouge Parish until hitting a tree on Port Hickey Road. After the crash, he continued to flee on foot before being apprehended by troopers.
LSP identified the suspect as 47-year-old Hoxie Brown Marcelin. He was taken to West Feliciana Hospital for minor injuries from the crash and later booked into West Feliciana Parish Jail.
Marcelin was booked on charges of armed robbery, carjacking, theft of a motor vehicle and possession of stolen things. He also faces charges in East Baton Rouge Parish, including aggravated flight from an officer, resisting an officer and reckless operation. According to LSP, Marcelin has theft-related outstanding warrants with the New Orleans Police Department.
LSP said the case remains under investigation.
