BELLE ROSE, La. (BRPROUD) – A White Castle man was killed in a hit-and-run Sunday morning and the latest on this crash can be found here.

Troopers from the Louisiana State Police responded to LA-998 in Assumption Parish around 8 a.m. about a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian. Through an investigation, troopers learned that 54-year-old David Gilbert was walking east in the westbound lane of LA-998 when he was struck by a vehicle heading west.

Gilbert died from his injuries and the car fled the scene.

Troopers believe the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. and involved a 2015 or newer Lincoln Continental with damage to its passenger side. As of Sunday, the color of the vehicle remains unknown.
