LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A man was arrested again Wednesday in connection with two shootings in May, one of which resulted in the injury of an eight-year-old girl.

The suspect, 21-year-old Jaran Adams, was arrested on charges of assault by drive-by shooting, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.

The sheriff’s office said on May 12 at 1:30 a.m., deputies responded to the 250000 stretch of Pardue Road in Springfield regarding shots fired. Sheriff Ard reported that an eight-year-old was injured in the drive-by shooting. Another shooting was reported days before on May 9 at the same location.

In September, Adams was arrested in connection to the drive-by on charges of aggravated criminal damage to property and illegal use of weapons. Sheriff Ard said crime scene evidence helped lead to Adams’ arrest.

Adams is currently not being housed in Livingston Parish Detention Center as he was transported to Tangipahoa Parish Jail on unrelated charges.
