BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is encouraging everyone coming out to Red Stick Revelry to wear a mask and social distance while ringing in the new year.

“New Year’s Eve activities will be held in our large open green spaces that allow the public to practice social distancing and still enjoy the music, laser light show and fireworks,” said Mayor Broome. “I encourage everyone to wear a mask and keep a safe distance so this event can be held safely and with respect for everyone attending. Red Stick Revelry has been one of our most popular events and it is so important that everyone be considerate of others so we can celebrate safely.”

New Year’s Eve celebrations will begin at 11 a.m. with family-friendly activities at the River Center Branch Library Plaza and Town Square. Activities include storytelling, art activities, special performances, and a community sing-along of Auld Lang Syne as the Red Stick is raised 60 feet above Town Square.

Evening celebrations begin at 8 p.m. with a lineup of musical guests performing on The Crest Stage in Davis S. Rhorer Plaza. As midnight arrives, the Red Stick will drop and a firework and high beam laser take over the night sky.

Events are as follows:

8:00 p.m. – Live music on The Crest Stage by Press 1 for English

9:30 p.m. – Laser Light Show

10:00 p.m. – Live music by The Michael Foster Project
