Mayor Broome is asking industry leaders to help local businesses

Small businesses in Baton Rouge impacted by the shutdown could be getting a helping hand from the very government who issued the mandate to cut down on the spread of coronavirus.

Most local businesses have suffered since the new changes.

To help local businesses Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome is asking industry leaders to step up by participating in the Keep BR serving campaign.

“I challenge every large business to purchase 500 gift cards at our small local businesses,” Broome said. “Times like this is when we need your support the most.”

The goal is to get money to small businesses immediately. 20% of each gift card will go directly to employees at that restaurant. Anyone can purchase a gift card and they do not expire.

Mayor Broome says until things return back to normal, she’s encouraging everyone to participate and keep BR serving.

“We must come together to support our local economy so that when we reach that light at the end of the tunnel, we can resurface stronger together as a community,” Broome said.
