BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Mayor Sharon Weston Broom held a brief conference addressing the ongoing investigation with the “Brave Cave” facility. She wants residents to know her office is working diligently to bring clarity, and justice to the situation.

Since the investigation with 21-year-old Jermey Lee, and four BRPD officers was launched Mayor Broom has worked closely with her administration and BRPD.

Chief Murphy Paul to suspend operations of the facility, and he proactively followed.

“The facility will remain closed permanently and it will not be used for policing activities going forward,” said Mayor Broome.

Chief Paul has initiated a criminal investigation related to the handling of the four suspects. The investigation with Lee is still ongoing, but Mayor Broome wants residents to know she’s putting their safety first.

“To the citizens of Baton Rouge, let me make this extremely clear you are my priority,” said Broome.
