Metro council member hoping to change construction work time due to noise complaints

Local News

Following complaints of noise from residents, one councilwoman is hoping to tweak times work is done.

District 8 councilwoman Denise Amoroso is introducing a proposed ordinance during tonight’s metro council meeting.

She says she’s gotten many phone calls about construction crews working past the current city-parish ordinance that says they have to stop at sundown.

Amoroso is proposing is cutting off construction noise at 5 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays.

Currently, crews can work from 7 a.m. to sunset.

Construction work is defined in the city-parish ordinance as any kind of demolition, alteration or repair of any building.

Amoroso is hoping to set a public hearing date and possibly vote on the proposed ordinance if it passes in January.

Metro council will meet Wednesday evening at 4 p.m. inside City Hall.
