Mid-City residents push back against Millennial Park’s rezoning plan

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Millennial Park has been receiving rave reviews with its vibrant colors and out of the box concept. Now, some people who live in the neighborhood nearby say, some things need to change.

Feet away from Millennial Park, bricks are lining the street down the Park Hills subdivision.

“Before they put the signs up, people would just come park in front of people houses, people parking lots and just and cause havoc so we had to put bricks in front of the house so no one park in their yard” said resident, Brline London.

People say, the crowds at the nearby business are getting out of line and now with the possibility of adding alcohol sales to the mix they fear it could get worse.

“You want to get people drunk next to a main street? We don’t get it. That’s going to cause more bad than good” said London.

A no-rezoning website has been created, listing allegations against the container park and its owner.

“We’ve corrected all of those issues that the neighborhood had a problem with and we’ve been trying to move forward to see how we can mediate and make everything work so we can all benefit from it” said Millennial Park CEO and Owner, Cameron Jackson

Jackson called the complaints insane and says the site’s creator is unaware of his exact plans.

“It would just be the same vibe Millennial Park already has we’ll just be adding a little alcohol” said Jackson.

Residents say, they love what has come of the area and hope expanding won’t disrupt their quality of life.

“We don’t care what y’all do as long as y’all keep the music down keep the traffic down, we good but it’s been a battle back and forth” said London.
