BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — More than $13 million will be going to improvement projects for La. 70 in Assumption Parish, according to Congressman Garret Graves.

Crews will repair 12.6 miles of the highway through milling, patching, overlay and drainage. Graves said the project is 80% funded by federal dollars.

“Highway 70 has seen better days,” said Graves. “This investment is going to eliminate potholes, help make the road safer and prevent coffee spills when driving between Paincourtville and Pierre Part. We’ve secured billions of federal dollars for south Louisiana transportation and flood protection projects. We will keep working to address priorities in our community.”

Other state infrastructure project funding announced recently includes $97 million in federal funding for “traffic solutions” in the Baton Rouge area and $20 million to further the Baton Rouge to New Orleans rail project.
