Mire pleads not guilty to charges in court appearance

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – The man accused in a deadly attack across three parishes that also left a Louisiana State Police trooper dead, is pleading not guilty to charges.

Matthew Mire faced a judge in Ascension Parish Tuesday for two counts of first-degree murder.

Investigators say he shot and killed Pamela Adair and Master Trooper Adam Gaubert last month, he’s also facing charges in Livingston and East Baton Rouge Parishes.

Prosecutors tell us there is a strong likelihood they will pursue the death penalty in this case.

Mire is expected back in court on November 9th.
