UPDATE: Kiarra Holmes, mother of two-year-old boy who was drowned in pool at apartment complex has bonded out of jail, according to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office.
BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- A two-year-old child drowned Monday after missing from his home for hours.
The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office confirmed the boy drowned in a pool at The Reserve at White Oak apartment complex on Harrells Ferry Rd.
Monday night, investigators spent hours working around the pool gathering information and evidence.
Casey Hicks with the Sheriff’s Office said their department searched the property and multiple pools before finding the child.
She said most of the pools were empty, but the one he was found in was filled with water.
According to the office, they received multiple reports of the baby wandering around the area, saying it was not uncommon for him to be alone in the complex.
The parents were taken in for questioning about the incident.
“Obliviously this is a really tragic accident right now, but we do have the parents that we’re talking to right now. Who was watching this child? Why was the child not accounted for, for so long, that kind of thing? We do foresee possible charges, some type of negligence in this case,” said Hicks.
EBRSO said, the two-year-old boy was missing for hours and was last seen in the afternoon of Sept. 6.,
No foul play is suspected in the drowning. Officials are still trying to figure out how the child wandered off into the pool area in the apartment complex.
