More than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases reported over the weekend in Louisiana

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Louisiana Department of Health reports 10,950 new COVID-19 cases over the weekend for Louisiana, with 59 new COVID related deaths.

LDH says that the largest percentages of increased COVID-19 cases comes from Regions 1, Orleans, Northshore, Baton Rouge, and Acadiana.

Here is the Louisiana COVID-19 Breakdown:

  • 10,950 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total for the state to 660,804
  • 59 new COVID-19 deaths, bringing the total for the state to 11,977
  • 2,838 COVID patients are currently in the hospital
  • 480 COVID patients are on ventilators

As of Monday, August 23, 1,873,834 have completed the COVID-19 Vaccine Series.
