BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A mother was arrested Tuesday in connection to a Siegen Lane retail store arson on Aug. 13.
Authorities said Jerdae Tanner was arrested by fire investigators and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office deputies on charges of aggravated arson and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
On Aug. 13, Tanner, along with her two young children, allegedly started the fire in Carter’s while she put items in her purse. The St. George Fire Department said all three left the store without paying while a clothing rack was in flames.

The fire department said the burning clothing rack was moved away from the store before the fire could spread. Investigators were able to see that Tanner and her children were responsible for the fire via surveillance footage.
