Pointe Coupee, La- After two months of searching, a beloved landmark is back at home in Pointe Coupee Parish.
The Buddy Guy historical landmark was knocked off it’s post on La. 1 when a car slid off the road and toppled it over. When officials came to retrieve the sign for repair, it wasn’t there.
Jeanie Andre, the director of the Pointe Coupee Office of Tourism said she’d gone to take a picture with the sign after the post was knocked over.
” I just found a damaged post, I saw car tracks and some glass. I knew something had happened,” Andre said.
Andre was a key player in having the landmark made and posted. She said it took her over a year to get the process going.
“I was just really hurt.”
The Pointe Coupee Parish Sheriff, Bud Torres said someone sent in a tip that the sign was in Pride, Louisiana. Deputies followed up on the lead, and found the sign in someone’s back yard.
There have been no arrests made for the sign. The sheriff’s office says the case is still under investigation.
