The American Cancer Association is encouraging cancer survivors in our community to come together and celebrate saving more lives.
According to the American Cancer Society of Baton Rouge as of 2016, the cancer death rate for men and women combined had fallen 27% from its peak in 1991. This decline translates to more than 2.6 million deaths avoided between 1991 and 2016.
Megan Pratt with ACS said this positive trend is something to celebrate.
The community and cancer survivors are invited to come celebrate local cancer survivors Sunday.
ACS connects cancer survivor volunteers with others who are going through the same diagnosis.
There are also a number of services and educational tool ACS offers to the community.
