BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The baby formula shortage has forced parents to look for the product outside of stores as many locations are limiting sales.

Although the FDA and baby formula manufacturer Abbott has reached a deal to restart production, it will possibly take weeks before it can be found in stores.

In Baton Rouge, Councilwoman Chauna Banks announced a free baby formula distribution event that will be taking place on Saturday, June 4 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Jewel J. Newman Community Center. The community center is located at 2013 Central Road.

Parents must pre-register for the giveaway and baby formula will be limited to one container per vehicle. To register, click here.

Another way Baton Rouge parents can find baby formula is through Family Road of Greater Baton Rouge. The nonprofit is offering donations to parents in need. Requests can be made by calling 225-201-8888.
