ASCENSION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – A local pet rescue owner will open a new center after finding success in giving cats a forever home.

Jonathan Henriques, the founder of Rescue Alliance has been rescuing cats since July 2019. Henriques told BRProud that Rescue Alliance has facilitated almost 500 adoptions for just 2022 and over 1,100 since 2019.

Henriques now needs a bigger facility to keep up with the increasing amount of homeless cats. The new center will showcase adoptable cats, but Henriques is in need of kennels.

“As a rescue, we strive to give every animal in our care the best resources possible, and with a new facility on the way, we can make that happen,” Henriques said. “But we need all of the help we can get to provide the kennels for these precious animals.”

Rescue Alliance also runs the Louisiana Pet Food Bank, which distributes free pet food to anyone in need within the state.

Donations including pet food, kennels, and any other pet needs can be made to Rescue Alliance in several ways.
