BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A new daiquiri and bar has opened in the Baton Rouge area.

Brightside Bar and Daiquiris, located at 5201 Nicholson Drive, Suite F, held a soft opening earlier this month. The bar operates daily. It opens at 3 p.m. and closes as late as 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Bar owner Lisa Riggins has been a part of the bartending and service industry in Baton Rouge for about 10 years.

Riggins said drinks are made from all-natural cocktail ingredients such as fruit purees and single-pressed juices along with flavored vodka instead of using the daiquiri pre-mixes that can be bought.

The business is designed to make the community feel more at home by having a seating area inside.

“I know that home-neighborhood bar feeling is really missing from this area,” said Riggins. “And we’re hoping to be that for some people. Bring your work, order dinner in, bring your friends and do game night. All the things we want to be a place where people can come and hang out.”

Popular drink flavors include a watermelon lemonade daiquiri that tastes like a Jolly Rancher; a Fightin’ Tiger raspberry, blueberry, and passion fruit cocktail; and a painkiller, which is full of tropical fruits. They also include specialty drinks based around holidays.

The establishment is environment-friendly. They recycle all bottles and cans and use eco-friendly styrofoam and plastic cups, which are water-waste safe, biodegradable and compostable. “We’re really doing what we can to be a good partner to Baton Rouge and the clean-up efforts as well,” said Riggins.

The daiquiri shop is at the former site of Death Valley Daiquiris. A grand opening is scheduled within the next few weeks.
