NOLA Navy Week docks in the Crescent City for Tricentennial Celebration

NEW ORLEANS, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) - Naval ships and Tall ships from around the world will be at the French Quarter and the east bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans for NOLA Navy Week April 19 through April 25.

"This Tricentennial event will be one of the most exciting for citizens and visitor," said Mark Romig, President and CEO of 2018 NOLA Foundation and New Orleans Tourism Marketing Corporation, NOTMC. 

Visitors will see ships from three countries this year including the U.S. Navy's USS Kearsarge, USS James Dunham, USCG Cypress, and USCGC Benjamin Dailey as well as the FS LaResolue from France, and the HMCS Charlottetown from Canada. There will also be a seafood cook-off featured between the ships' various culinary specialists and Louisiana chefs.

Navy concerts will fill the air throughout the week, as will fireworks at dusk on both Saturday and Sunday, April 22 and April 23.

Community service projects including building homes, beautifying parks, and planting trees will also be done for three of the days that week.
