Ochsner confirms care underway for COVID-19 patient

BATON ROUGE, LA (BRPROUD) –Ochsner Medical Center has released a statement about hosting a COVID-19 patient.

“Louisiana Office of Public Health (OPH) has confirmed a patient with COVID-19 at Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge (OMCBR).

With guidance from our health system, OMCBR had already implemented a comprehensive COVID-19 Response Plan, which includes:

Initiating systemwide protocol for the screening and isolation of any patient suspected of having the Coronavirus.

Once we suspect any case has the potential to be COVID-19, we follow the appropriate isolation and protective measures outlined by Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as well as their guidelines for hospital personnel and visitors.

We continue delivering care to all patients in a way that protects the health and well-being of both our patients and caregivers. We want to thank our care teams for their preparation while acting immediately and appropriately.

We would also like to reassure patients that Ochsner Medical Center – Baton Rouge remains open. If you have questions about scheduled appointments or procedures, please contact your provider.

In compliance with federal patient privacy regulations we are unable to make any comments regarding patient condition.”

The patient is being treated at the hospital but is not from Baton Rouge.
