BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Medical professionals are calling Ochsner’s medical complex pediatric super-clinic a one-stop-shop for all your pediatric needs.
The clinic has been under construction since January. Pediatrician James Wayne said this new addition will make access to medical care easier for parents.
“The need for pediatrics and pediatric subspecialties has been continuing to grow here in the Baton Rouge area over the past decade and more. Parents are really used to having to go to different locations for their children’s care, but at this clinic, they’ll be able to see their general pediatrician and if necessary they’ll be able to see the sub-specialist that they need to see as well,” said Wayne.
The clinic was built to tailor to the child’s experience with an aquatic theme, round shapes on the walls, and bright colors. With 48 patient rooms, five nursing stations and multiple provider spaces, Wayne said this is a game-changer for the pediatric department.
“It makes for ease of communication with the nurses and also better patient flow,” said Wayne.
It’s a $6.8 million investment, which includes over $700,000 in pediatric-specific medical equipment.
Medical services that will be offered include:
- General pediatrics
- Pediatric gastroenterology
- Pediatric neurology
- Pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery
- Pediatric orthopedics
- Pediatric urology
- Pediatric cancer care
- Pediatric hepatology
- Pediatric ENT (ear, nose & throat)
- Pediatric pulmonology
- Pediatric general surgery
- Child and adolescent psychiatry
The pediatric super-clinic will see its first patients on Nov. 11 at the Ochsner Medical Complex.
