BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) ––– Ochsner Baton Rouge is teaming up with Southern University to offer free breast cancer screenings across the Greater Baton Rouge area through November.

With no registration or insurance required, you can walk up to get a comprehensive health screening at no cost thanks to funding from The American Cancer Society.

Dr. Brandi Wicks, assistant professor at Southern University, explained that nursing students will perform breast cancer screenings, blood pressure, cholesterol, glucose, BMI checks, medication reviews, and anything else that could indicate a more serious health problem.

If a patient needs further screening, they can get on the Jag Mobile, which mainly serves communities within a 50-mile radius of Southern University.

Dr. Lindsey Fauveau, an Ochsner Baton Rouge fellowship-trained breast surgeon said, “If there’s any concern, you will automatically be referred” to an appointment to take care of the issue.
