BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Our Lady of the Lake Hospital is in need of blood donations.
OLOL is dealing with a shortage of O negative blood. The Red Cross says that O negative red blood cells can be given to patients of all blood types, which is why it is most often requested by hospitals. About 7% of people in the U.S. are type O negative.
In January, The Hill reported that the Red Cross declared its first-ever national blood crisis in the U.S.
If anyone is interested in donating blood, the OLOL Blood Donor Center is located at 7777 Hennessy Boulevard.
