BEIJING (BRPROUD) – Day 7 of the Winter Olympics brought many to tears: happy tears to the gold medal winners and sad tears as the world watched Shaun White compete for the last time.

“This is it for me. I’m so thankful to be here and so proud of Hirano and Scotty and Jan, incredible riders. I wish I could have landed my last run, but I was having some difficulty in my back leg for some reason,” he said to Olympics.com

White owns half of the gold medals in half-pipe snowboarding. He has five medals overall and three of those medals are gold.

White placed fourth in this year’s Winter Olympics.

Japan’s Hirano Ayumu won the gold medal. Australia’s Scotty James won the silver and Switzerland’s Jan Scherrer won the bronze.

“It’s an honour to be doing it still and it’s an honour to have this last chance to say goodbye, to say thank you for everything,” White said to Olympics.com
