ASSUMPTION PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — One person was arrested in connection to a boating incident in Assumption Parish.

On Dec. 26, Louisiana Department of Wildlife & Fisheries (LDWF) agents were notified of a boating incident involving two vessels at 1:45 a.m. According to LDWF officials, agents discovered that one vessel operator was taken to the hospital while another operator was still at the scene.

Through investigation, LDWF agents found that the second vessel was floating in Belle River when the first vessel hit it in the stern, causing the second vessel to sink.

LDWF said one of the boat operators, Carl Saucier, was arrested and booked into Assumption Parish Jail on charges of careless operation and DWI. Saucier was allegedly intoxicated while operating the boat, according to LDWF.

The second vessel’s operator was interviewed by agents and provided a blood sample for testing.

This incident remains under investigation by LDWF.
