Councilman Trae Welch and Councilwoman Tara Wicker are announcing the ‘Race Talk Initiative’ at the Metropolitan Council meeting.

The Metropolitan Council is working with the “One Blood” Baton Rouge Campaign on the ‘Race Talk Initiative.’

According to the City of Baton Rouge, “the focus of this campaign is to further establish an opportunity for open, transparent, and meaningful conversation about the issue of race in our city, the impact it has on our community as a whole, and put words into action in an effort to effect change.”

Councilman Trae Welch stated, “It’s time to put words into action in our city. This initiative is about moving into action, the things we know and believe are true and good about the people of our city, and allowing real change to occur.”
