Over 200 storm drains cleaned within two weeks, crews continue work around EBR

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Metro Council approved a $20 million drainage initiative in June and stated that work would begin right away.

Since approval, the Metro Council says the initiative has already accomplished:

  • 205 catch basins/storm drains cleaned
  • 348,000 pounds of debris removed
  • 586 feet of drain pipe cleaned

There are currently six crews of contractors in the parish working on the cleanup, according to a spokesperson from Metro Council.
