BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – It’s been six months since Allie Rice was shot and killed while driving home in Baton Rouge. Allie’s father, Paul Rice, posted an apology message to his daughter on Facebook on the anniversary of her death.
Allison Rice, 21, was found inside her vehicle on Government Street in September 2022. The Baton Rouge Police Department has not made any arrests in her case. She was awarded a posthumous degree in December 2022.
The Rice family and the family of Devin Page, a child who was killed by a stray bullet near the same place in April 2022, partnered to advocate for cameras in the areas where they were killed.
In part, he wrote: “Allie this fight for you won’t end. We will continue to work with leaders and coalitions to promote violence prevention, justice, and change. We will continue to fight to put people who care about our mission in place and help clean house of those who do not care enough. Your name will forever be tied with our movement. Yellow bracelets and those three words ‘Live Like Allie’ will be forever known. Patience is difficult but critical … and we will persevere. We still have a lot of work to do.”
