BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — The pedestrian hit and killed Friday on Burbank Drive was identified Monday as a 71-year-old woman.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Ethel Wesley.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office said it was around 7:19 p.m. when Wesley was walking westbound in the 10400 block of Burbank Drive near Bluebonnet Boulevard and struck by two vehicles. They say neither vehicle stopped to render aid nor notify emergency personnel.

Wesley was rushed to an area hospital and later died of her injuries.

The sheriff’s office is asking for public assistance in identifying the two vehicles that reportedly fled the scene.

One vehicle is believed to be a 2009-2011 dark-colored BMW. Detectives add that both automobiles might have moderate to heavy front-end damage.
