BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A shooting victim who was in a crash early Tuesday morning died in the hospital, according to the sheriff’s office.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner’s Office identified the shooting victim as Yasheka McDaniel, 34. The coroner’s office said that the cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy.

Deputies responded to a shooting in the 6500 and 9000 block of Greenwell Street at 2:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30. The East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office said a car damaged by bullets was found wrecked and overturned.

Two people were taken to a hospital. McDaniel was shot in the foot and in critical condition due to the crash, EBRSO said. She later died in the hospital.

An investigation is ongoing.
