Plaquemine ferry closed this weekend due to staffing shortage

PLAQUEMINE, La. (BRPROUD) — The Plaquemine ferry is expected to be closed this upcoming weekend due to a staffing shortage.

The closure will be on Saturday, Oct. 9 and Sunday, Oct. 10, according to DOTD officials. The ferry is expected to continue service on Monday, Oct. 11.

Normal ferry operations are Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Additionally, DOTD said the second ferry remains out of service.
