Police in Louisiana arrest paraprofessional accused of striking student with meter stick

SLIDELL, La. (WDSU) — Slidell Police have charged a St. Tammany Parish Public School employee with simple battery after they were accused of striking a student with a meter stick.

Police say the incident happened Monday at Little Oak Middle School.

According to a news release issued by Slidell Police, a paraprofessional, identified as 66-year-old, Terry B. Pratts of Slidell, allegedly struck a student with a meter stick during dismissal time.

School administrators, and the school resource officer, immediately began an investigation into the matter, according to police.

The para-professional was charged Tuesday with simple battery, according to police.
