Update: Baton Rouge Police charge Alabama man in motorcycle

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC LOCAL 33) (FOX 44)- An Alabama man is charged in connection to a crash that killed a Baton Rouge motorcycle rider.

Baton Rouge Police said 61-year-old Howard Lyons was arrested Tuesday after the crash happened in the 2500 block of Florida Blvd around 4:34pm Tuesday afternoon.

Investigators said Lyons was driving a 2015 Kenworth semi-truck with tanker trailer east bound on Florida Blvd when he struck a 2003 Yamaha Jett Sport motorcycle from the rear. The motorcycle became lodged underneath the front end of the semi causing the driver, 38-year-old Ryan Carter to fall off the motorcycle.

Detectives said the semi-truck ran over Carter. Carter died at the scene.

Lyons was booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for Negligent Homicide.

This is an ongoing investigation.
