BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Power Coalition for Equity and Justice and the YWCA Greater Baton Rouge partnered together for the annual Juneteenth Freedom Bailout.

Both organizations donated a total of $50,000 to those who cannot afford their bail. The money specifically goes to those who have not committed a violent crime.

“These are people who have not done any violent crimes,” said Director Of Strategic Partnerships at Power Coalition Morgan Shannon. “They have just done small, petty or misdemeanor crimes and should not be in jail because they do not have the money to be able to get themselves out of jail.”
