PRAIRIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — Ascension Parish school officials celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Prairieville High School.

According to Ascension Public Schools, the new school will be the fifth feeder system in the school district, which is a part of a $140 million construction bond passed by voters in 2020. The school is scheduled to open in Fall 2024. The school system says the school will be a 320,000 square foot campus with enough classrooms to hold 2,000 students, a media center, two gymnasiums, a courtyard, and a two-story fieldhouse.

On Wednesday, May 18 at 11 a.m., school officials and local elected officials were present at the groundbreaking. The groundbreaking ceremony was not open to the public due to a lack of parking space. To see images from the groundbreaking, click here.
