Priest encourages people to have faith amid Notre Dame inferno

Local News

People around the world are devastated to see Notre Dame Cathedral engulfed in flames ahead of Easter.

Father Paul Kounce, a priest at St. Joseph Cathedral, said this unfortunate event may be an untreatable wound and a time for people to mourn and grieve, but it is also a time to remind ourselves to have faith after this tragedy.

“Faith is always tested in suffering and in times of persecution,” said Father Kounce.

Father Kounce also said he believes the church will be being stronger. He describes “the church” as the people of God, rather than the building itself.

The Cathedral of Notre Dame is more than 800-years-old.
