GONZALES, La. (BRPROUD) – Could a unique RV experience be coming to Ascension Parish in the future? Three investors are working to make the Hidden Bayou RV Resort a reality.
The community gave feedback about the proposal during an open house at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center. Dustin Clouatre, one of the investors, said it went better than they ever expected. He also had a recent social media post outlining updates get widespread support and interest.
Tracy Browning, executive director of the Ascension Parish Tourism Commission, is excited that this could be built in Ascension Parish.
“It would be a great economic development for our area, and would bring additional visitors to enjoy all of the attractions in Ascension Parish including festivals, restaurants and shopping,” she said.
Clouatre and his family have lived here their entire lives. He believes this project “will bring family fun, jobs and generate tax revenue for our community.”
Where will it be? What will it have?
It would be “down the street from River Parishes Community College,” according to Clouatre. A sneak peek at the proposed features is here.
So what is planned for this 40-acre resort? He provided these details:
- 150-site RV area with cabins and glamping tents.
- A pool area featuring a 500ft long lazy river
- Pools
- Splash pads
- Swim-up bars
- Snack stand
- 3,500-square-foot reception area
- Fitness center
- Camping store
- Restaurant
Clouatre said there is no minimum night stay requirement for RVs. If you don’t have an RV, you can “rent one of the cabins or the air-conditioned glamping yurts or tents,” Clouatre said.
The idea has been in the works for around four months. Clouatre said it would be unique, not necessarily modeled after other RV parks.
When could it open?
So when could this be up and running? Clouatre said they hope to bring the proposal to the planning and zoning commission in 45 days.
“In a perfect world, the resort would be open by the middle of next summer,” Clouatre said.
