BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Winn-Dixie and Blue Star Mothers of Louisiana will pay tribute to fallen military service members on Saturday, May 28 on the grounds of the Louisiana State Capitol.

The two groups will be planting 11,000 American flags while reading the names of those who have died. The flags will be carried to the capital by For Our Fallen, an organization that consists of active and former military members. Each flag represents one hero who gave their lives in service to the country.

The Memorial Day Garden of Flags and Ceremony begins at 8:30 a.m. and the public is invited to participate in the ceremony.

From May 25 through July 5, Winn-Dixie customers can donate $1, $5, or round up their total grocery bill to the nearest dollar in support of Folds of Honor.

According to an official Winn-Dixie press release, the southeast has one of the largest military veteran populations in the country.
