(WFLA) – R&B singer R. Kelly is under criminal investigation in Georgia because of Lifetime’s docuseries “Surviving R. Kelly,” according to TMZ.

TMZ sources report the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has opened an investigation into allegations made in the docuseries. TMZ has confirmed investigators reached out to one of the women who allegedly escaped R. Kelly’s home.

In the new documentary, parents of a Polk County girl claim their daughter is among several women being held in an abusive cult-like relationship with R. Kelly.

They claim they haven’t seen their daughter in four years, since she turned 18 and moved in with R. Kelly.

R. Kelly denies any wrongdoing, and he has not yet been charged with any crimes.

He declined to comment to NBC News.
