Residents asking for updates on unoccupied restaurant

Local News

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — After closing over a year ago, residents ask why the building on Airline Hwy., formally known as Sammy’s, remains unoccupied.

Residents we spoke to say it seems to be a good location, and they are not sure why no one has taken over the property.

The restaurants fell into financial trouble when employees reported they were not being paid and the owner could no longer afford the properties.

The Airline location closed in June 2019 and the Highland site closing in January 2020.

The Highland Rd. location reopened under new management, but the question remains, what is to be with the Airline Highway location?

According to Ascension Parish officials, no permits for the location have been applied for, and the real estate agency was not available for comment.
