Residents living on E. State Street fear trees colliding with power lines

Local News

Residents living on E. State Street off Highland Road are complaining about the trees. Branches can be seen lying on the ground, hanging from power lines and colliding with them.

“That’s not good for anyone,” said one resident.

Experts say trees coming in contact with power lines is one of the main causes of power outages.

Entergy released a statement following residents concerns and said:

“Vegetation growth – keeping limbs and brush away from power lines – is an ongoing part of providing our customers with reliable electricity. Our goal is to trim trees every few years in the Baton Rouge area. We will be sending a crew out in the next few days to assess the situation on E. State Street and Highland and determine what needs to be done. We want to make sure we keep everyone safe and keep the lights on for our customers.”
