Royal Furniture in Baton Rouge is closing permanently after 71 years in business.

Royal Furniture Co., located at 502 N. 19th St., has sold bedding and appliances in southeastern Louisiana since its inception in 1946.

The Baton Rouge store is holding a going out of business sale starting on Thursday, March 1.

The family owned and operated furniture retailer is located in the same building in which it was founded.

Royal Furniture was founded by C. Kemp Tricou who ran the store until his death in 1976

His son, Mike Tricou took over after his death and led Royal Furniture for over 40 years.

Operating under the slogan, “No gimmicks, no tricks,” Royal Furniture is known for its long track record of giving customers fair and honest deals. “By staying in the same location for 71 years, we’ve been able to keep our prices low without sacrificing quality or customer service,” Tricou said.

The Royal Furniture Co., intends to sell everything in its showroom before it officially closes.

Products are being offered on a first-come, first-served basis. “We suggest shoppers come in early for the best selection,” Tricou said.
