BATON ROUGE, La. (BR Proud News) – This year, the traditional tailgating near Tiger Stadium will be a thing of the past.
On gameday, the popular tailgating spots at RVs will have some major limitations.
“The things that are not permitted on campus like tents and generators, outdoor bar-b-ques. All of those rules will also apply to the RV lot” said Robert Munson, Senior Associate Athletic Director for LSU.
RV hangouts have become a yearly tradition outside the stadium and even if they were allowed, there’s another thing blocking fan’s path.
“There’s a shortage of campers now. A major shortage.”
Hurricane Laura devastated southwest Louisiana, forcing people out of their homes, and into rental campers while they wait for repairs.
“The hurricane took them out so now we’re seeing an influx in personal needs rather than pleasure like tailgating” said Adam Wyatt, Co-Owner of Camping Adventures of Louisiana.
As a result of the widespread damage
“We’re sold out of campers for the next six to nine months” said Wyatt.
Wyatt said, if you’re looking to get your hands on a rental RV, it’ll be a while.
“I realistically think towards March, April, May or even the beginning of next summer is when the rentals will be back in place for people who want to go out and enjoy.”
