Salvation Army hosting annual school supply drive at local Walmart stores

Local News

Baton Rouge, La. (BR Proud News) – School is starting up and the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge is asking for your help during its annual school supply drive.

“They can go to Walmart, purchase something and drop it off in the box located in the store or any local stores and drop it off at the Salvation Army,” said Major Donald Tekautz, with the Salvation Army of Greater Baton Rouge.

Shoppers visiting a Walmart on August 7-9 can purchase and drop off requested items at Salvation Army collection bins at the front of each store. The goal is to provide new school supplies to children in need of a fresh start to the school year

The supplies will be collected, stuffed into backpacks and distributed to families.

The partnership has been going on for 30 years.
