BRUSLY, La. (BRPROUD) – The last school year was ‘savage’ for many students and teachers.
One local teacher named Mrs. Moore was inspired one night to write a song about the school year.
As Moore says, “teachers do not sleep.”
Mrs. Moore is a 6th grade teacher at Brusly Middle School and the video below is called “Savage Year.”
“Savage Year,” is an anthem for the struggles of this year and the resilience of her students.
The lyrics, courtesy of Mrs. Moore can be found below:
If I woke up with out ya, I don’t know what I would do.
So I sanitized and wore a mask , just for you.
Usually don’t be cleaning, be cleaning, cleaning a lot.
You got a way of keeping me quarantined back to back.
I just found out we are virtual, never-mind we’re not.
Nothings the same, it changes everyday. We still held on.
Usually I would never, never even care.
But this is amazing and good things we need to share.
Every night and every day, I’m proud of you in every way!
This was…A savage year.
Did something, did something break your heart?
We learned a lot and grew because we are strong.
I know we can do hard things, and not give up.
I’m proud of us in this savage year.
Let me be clear, I’m proud of us in this savage year.
I know this wasn’t easy, but I’m so thankful.
You want to live it up, we had to lock it down.
Usually don’t be six-feet, six, six apart.
I saw people risen up and doing things that were hard.”
Mrs. Moore would like to be clear, she is not a singer.
Joining Mrs. Moore in this video are:
- PE Coach Emily Domingue was my “actor” and Hype woman!
- The Brusly Middle School principal, Taya Loupe, as well as the assistant principals
Mrs. Moore declared that this is it, no more venturing into the ‘music business.’
It was indeed a ‘Savage Year.’
