“Out of an abundance of caution for the safety and wellbeing of our students, parents and employees, Livingston Parish Public Schools will close tomorrow,” Superintendent Joe Murphy said.

Murphy noted that the district is unable to institute its “late arrival” plan that would delay the start of school by two to three hours because hazardous weather conditions are forecast to extend later into the day than can be avoided by a delayed start.

Louisiana State University

We have weighed several options for tomorrow in light of the latest weather forecast, and we have decided the best course of action is to keep campus open and rely on each of you to use your best judgment when it comes to working remotely or traveling to campus safely.

Some of you may have school-aged children whose schools are either closing outright or opening later than normal, and that may factor into your decision. Depending on the condition of the roads, some of you may find it difficult to travel.

Students should talk to their professors, and employees should coordinate with their supervisors, and we should all remain flexible to accommodate each other’s needs.
