Search underway after juvenile jumps into Amite River

LIVINGSTON, La (BRPROUD) Livingston Parish Sheriffs Office has been dispatched to a bridge over the Amite River after a juvenile male allegedly jumped.

Sheriff Jason Ard says,

‘Here’s what we know so far, a juvenile male jumped into the Amite River. He didn’t resurface. No foul play is suspected. The location is in a wooded area located at the end of Frenchtown Rd between EBR and Bowman street in Livingston parish. Multiple agencies including EBRSO, East side FD, Denham PD, District 4 fire & Central FD are assisting LPSO in the search for the missing juvenile. We all remain on scene. Our thoughts & prayers are with this family.’

LPSO is working to inform family members of today’s events.
