WASHINGTON (BRPROUD) — A total of $20 million will be granted to address health disparities in underserved communities in Louisiana, according to Senator Bill Cassidy.

Cassidy said the funding, which is granted to the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center, will be headed to expanding chronic disease research at LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center.

“As a doctor who worked in Louisiana’s charity hospital system, addressing health disparities in underserved communities is a top priority,” said Cassidy. “This funding will help LA CaTS expand their research and close the health gap in Louisiana.”
