WASHINGTON D.C. (BRPROUD) — Senator Bill Cassidy applauded the Senate on the passing of the bipartisan resolution to condemn recent bomb threats towards Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
The resolution sets to reaffirm the duty of the federal government to protect college students, faculty, and staff against acts of violence, according to Cassidy.
“Violence and racism against HBCUs have no place in our society and must be condemned. No student, professor, or faculty member should feel unsafe at their school or workplace. Proud to join the entire Senate to show our support for Xavier, Dillard, Southern University, and HBCUs across the country,” said Dr. Cassidy.
On Feb. 8, Sen. Cassidy met with Xavier University President Reynold Verret to discuss the threats made against Xavier University and updates on the federal investigation.
