Sinkhole Swallowing Homeowners Property in Sorrento

Local News

A large sink hole behind a house on Waterford Ln. in Sorrento is growing because of all the rain from Harvey.

Ascension Parish officials fixed the hole after our initial report, but it’s back again.

The sink hole is about 4 to 5 feet deep and the homeowner, Sharon Osborne Patterson, said kids play right by the hole.

Less than a year ago she said the city just dumped dirt to fill the hole. Osborne said her fence and property is slowly being swallowed up by the sink hole which she is concerned about.

“It worries me because we bought a home, and we’re not sure of the ground or what’s beneath the ground and… we’re here paying for a home that we fell in love with and it’s not safe, backyard is not safe the children can’t come out here and feel safe here,” said Patterson.

Patterson said she wants Ascension Parish officials to pay for her fence and fix the problem once and for all.
